Today, staff development- and evaluation interview are often used by shipping companies.

But there are certain challenges connected with this. For instance it can be difficult to:

  • Give objective and accurate evaluations

  • Create the necessary learning environment

  • Follow up and use the tool in the everyday life

  • Etc.

  • Fundamental knowledge about the psychological mechanisms when people have a dialogue

  • Different personality types (behaviour and motivation)

  • Listening technique

  • How to give feedback – praise and criticism

  • How to make a match of expectations

  • How to conduct the interview (before, during, after)

  • Personal plan of action
